Eric Schnabel has built a career grounded in service, discipline, and leadership across the military, government, and community sectors. With a consistent display of professionalism and dedication, he spent decades in uniform and continues to contribute to national security efforts. His work has earned the respect and loyalty of those who have served and worked with him.

Forging a Military Career

Eric began his service in 1995 by enlisting in the U.S. Army. Starting as an infantryman, he quickly showed strong determination and earned his commission from the Virginia Military Institute.

As a Mustang officer, he gained experience in both enlisted and officer roles, providing him with valuable insight into military operations. His completion of airborne training and Ranger School prepared him for six combat deployments in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Persian Gulf.

Later, he served as a paratrooper in the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions. Over a decade of jump status resulted in 82 completed jumps and the award of Master Rated Airborne Wings.

Leadership in Combat and Unit Operations

As his responsibilities increased, he led troops in multiple combat missions. He held ground command roles during Operation Iraqi Freedom and on several deployments to Afghanistan. His work included capturing enemy forces, planning tactical operations, and leading teams on complex missions.

In the 82nd Airborne Division, he served as both Battalion Operations Officer and Executive Officer. He managed a unit of 830 personnel and later oversaw a 770-person parachute infantry battalion. His leadership in logistics, aviation support, planning, and training earned him multiple Bronze Star awards.

A Strategic Influence at the Pentagon

His career evolved into roles focused on policy and strategic planning. He held key positions with the Office of the Secretary of Defense Staff, the Joint Staff, and the Army Staff, where he worked closely with senior military leaders.

Serving as Deputy Director and Chief of the Assessments Branch on the Joint Staff, he was responsible for capability assessments and concept development across various branches and commands. He also supported strategic planning efforts under the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, integrating operational needs with technology development.

In one of his most significant roles, he acted as Director of Joint Integration within the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He supported the Close Combat Lethality Task Force, coordinating with the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Special Operations Command, and other organizations to strengthen combat effectiveness. His work included securing funding for training, equipment, and research initiatives.

Transition to Civilian Leadership

After more than 25 years of military service, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and transitioned into civilian roles with the same level of focus and discipline. He moved into business development, supporting organizations that work with the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Veterans Affairs.

Drawing from his background, Eric worked to build strategic pipelines, grow market presence, and guide teams through competitive efforts. His civilian contributions reflected the same structure and mission-oriented mindset that defined his military career.

Commitment Beyond Profession

Alongside his professional service, he remained intensely involved in his community. He spent 15 years with the Knights of Columbus, held a leadership role at the Army Navy Country Club, and served as President of his neighborhood’s homeowners association.

He also served on the Board of Governors and as President of the nonprofit foundation linked to the club. In these roles, he worked to preserve military heritage and support programs that benefited staff and students.

One of his contributions was helping establish the Medal of Honor Library, a project that honors recipients and preserves the club’s historical legacy.
